Akhmat's expertise includes advising foreign and Russian clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including preparing legal opinions, transactional documentation for M&A deals and conducting legal due diligence for major companies. Akhmat’s key areas of expertise include industrial production and petrochemicals, as well as major banks, financial institutions and venture capital.

Akhmat also advises clients in connection with sectoral and personal restrictive measures imposed by the United States of America, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada, as well as retaliatory countersanctions imposed by the Russian Federation.

Akhmat is a current leading advisor to MGIMO MFA teams in the Corporate Dispute Arbitration Competition named after V. P. Mozolin.

Experience

• advising a Saudi Arabian sovereign fund on the acquisition of more than 25% of shares in a systemically important Italian bank, including preparation of applications for the CBR and the Government Commission for Foreign Investment Control
• advising a group of investors in relation to the acquisition of chemical production plants from Henkel Rus. The deal was nominated as "Deal of the Year" by Russia M&A Awards-202
• preparation of a call option within the framework of the acquisition of Russian assets of a Dutch brewery holding by Arnest Group
• preparation of an expert opinion in an investment arbitration in favor of Sberbank
• representing a private Russian bank in a precedent-setting dispute on the recovery of RUB 677m of antitrust damages from MegaFon (T-Bank, then Tinkoff Bank), preparing an appeal, liaising with appraisal organizations and experts on economic analysis and calculation of damages, and participating in court hearings
