Daria is a tax professional with more than 7 years of tax experience. Her expertise primarily concerns International Tax, VAT and Personal Income Tax. The main sectors of the economy she has worked in include IT, TMT and manufacturing. Daria has been engaged in projects involving e-services including registering and consulting foreign providers as well as analyzing the application of tax benefits for such IT companies. She has experience in tax structuring within Russia and CIS countries, Europe (Cyprus / Finland / Germany) as well as the UK and US. Daria actively participates in tax-related events as well as lectures at the Higher School of Economic (HSE).
Experience
- assisting a world-leading tank container lessor with a fleet of over 60,000 tanks with restructuring its current tank container lease business in Russia as well as structuring its new business, flat wagon leasing, both from a tax as well as a customs perspective
- advising a Scandinavian packaging production company on the tax consequences of its cross-border transactions with respect to the provisions of Russian-Finnish DTTs affected by MLI
- providing advice to individuals residing in Russia regarding currency control and CFC (notification on accounts in foreign banks and e-money institutions, notification on CFCs, declaring individuals’ income)
- defending a company’s interests during an on-site tax audit with a claim regarding bad-faith suppliers for a Russian leader in the meat production sector with the total charges amounting to 90 million RUB
- participating in a trial regarding the reimbursement of VAT to a leading Polish aviation company from a Russian handling company for unlawful VAT charges for airport services in a legally ambiguous situation in the amount of 40 thousand EU
- advising world-leading tobacco producers from Korea regarding the tax and customs consequences of importing tobacco heating systems and tobacco raw materials in Russia
